Wardrobe boxes

This moving guide is provided to help you make more efficient use of your time, as well as the moving boxes and moving supplies. You can purchase the cheapest moving boxes from us or spend more and buy them from your mover or local store. Wardrobe boxes are multi-purpose and need not be used solely for hanging clothes. They are ideal for packing bulky items such as blankets, pillows, and comforters. Ours are available in bundles of three and are 24x24x40, double-walled. They come with a heavy-duty metal bar to hang clothes; but we recommend you use them under any circumstance since the bar will reinforce the cardboard box strength.
You can hang clothes on the rod in the wardrobe box, and still place other items in the bottom space. Clothes should be given thought as to how you pack. They need to be close to prevent the hangers from moving off the bar. However, if you pack all your suits into one box, with little room between, it may be too heavy or top-heavy. Think about mixing a few coats with other hanging items. If by chance you do place items on the rod sparsely, run a strip of packing tape over the top of the bar to prevent movement of the hangers. You can also take a plastic garbage bag or one from dry cleaning, and lay it across the shoulders and rack. This will permit the addition of items such as baskets, purses, and sweaters in the top.

Put loose shoes, slippers, and toiletries in shopping bags. These can fit on the bottom of the wardrobe box, under the clothing, with some small boxes. A blanket on top of the items will limit the amount of movement and shifting. Avoid heavy items that may be too much for the packing tape seal.
