In that case, or if you are doing it yourself, the most efficient method is do as much preparatory work as possible. Moving furniture is difficult and you don't want to make it harder. Before you pack up the shed or garage, get a multipurpose screwdriver, pliers, and small wrench. Put them where you can find them because they will be needed when you unpack.
Use any kind of moving boxes such as middle boxes or a moving box kits for your whole new home. Pack your materials in all these boxes to make the moving easier and less complicated.
Remove the legs of everything you can. Place the hardware into sealable sandwich bags and tape them to the bottom of the furniture. For fine wood, use a polish such as lemon oil to prevent scratching. Wrap tables and legs in bubble wrap; securing with packing tape. Never tape directly onto the item. We like to shrink wrap the legs together, after the bubble wrap. They may fit in a wardrobe box, where other light items may be packed. Make sure the weight is not beyond 50 pounds in total. Antique or fragile tables may require special boxing and packing with plastic peanuts. Other things take well to moving or household blanket, and there's always bubble wrap. We think bubble wrap is ideal for protecting upholstered furniture. Once the legs are removed, stand the sofa on its side and wrap away. Chairs are a bit trickier, but manageable.
Remove cushions from chairs and couches, placing them in garbage bags. Wrap tightly and use packing tape to assure it remains taut. Use the pillows as dividers for large un-boxable objects, and cushioning of fragile items.
Resist the temptation to have the upholstery cleaned before packing the van. It's something you will need to do once you arrive at the new site.
