Moving the kitchenware in the right cardboard boxes
When buying moving boxes for those light but bulky items in the kitchen, large kitchen boxes (18 x 18 x 22) are the ones you need. Generally speaking, for a family kitchen you will need about 5 of them. The moving boxes have to be strong enough to be stacked so they will have to have a minimum ECT of 32. You can buy cheap moving kits without sacrificing quality by purchasing them from us, on-line. Place the baking tins, plastic ware, light but bulky items, and even small appliances into the moving boxes. There’s no need to wrap them individually if they are nested. Put the light appliances (like that electric knife, toaster, etc.) in some protection to keep them from shifting and scratching. Towels, dishcloths, crushed newspaper, will do the job fine. Before packing the toaster or toaster-oven into the cardboard box, it would do you well to turn it over and remove the catch pan to rid the appliance of crumbs. We find using plastic shopping bags works well at containing any debris you miss; as well as preventing edges of containers from catching on the electrical device.
For pantry items, small appliances, flatware, pots, pans, and utility drawer contents, it will take about 8 kitchen moving boxes for a normal household kitchen. You can use them for your cookbook collection, as well. Be sure that your cookbooks are wrapped in some layer of protection if placed in a moving box with food. No matter how well they are packed, a dropped box with glass containers can look fine from the outside but a disaster in. Some meticulous packers have been known to put jars inside sealed plastic bags as a precautionary measure. It’s a good idea to wrap all food items prior to placing into the kitchen moving box.
